It is hard to tell from your posters, but from memory this design holds some large advantages. It allows alot of light to escape, whilst shielding the veiwer from the globe. it also incorporates a very innovative method of fastening. One improvement that could be made is of raising the lamp up off the desk a little so that the shadows cast could be more prominent.
